Grab Your Wave!

Back from vacation! Had a fabulous time with the family at beautiful Punta Cana! Made great memories and even checked off some items on my bucket list! :) What better way than to enjoy the beach in the early morning than by going on a bare foot run with my all grown up nephew! As I ran through the water thoughts of my dad and Chariots of Fire ran through my mind. Exhilarated I looked at my side, running in sinc with my Godson, the first grandson, my sisters first born, the first boy to enter the Trujillo clan :) The adrenalin was so great I could have kept running forever! It didn’t stop there. For sometime now I’ve been wanting to learn how to surf. I guess my obsession with Gidget & Moondoggie was taking its toll :) When I read an article not too long ago about a woman who learned how to surf at age 40 on the Jersey Shore I became determined! Alex & I were going to take lessons last year but that fell through. When we learned of an opportunity to learn to surf in Punta Cana we jumped at it! We signed up with the Macao Surf Camp at once. I never thought you could actually surf in the Caribbean water, but you can! The waves are great for beginners like me. The beach was GORGEOUS, the instructors were GREAT, & I had an AWESOME workout in the process! :) I had the time of my life with my two boys….Alex & Max :)  I did it! I caught a wave! One of the most amazing feelings I have ever felt! I felt as if I was actually standing on water! All I remember is saying to myself, “feel that B, feel…..”  as I rode the wave :) I plan on taking more lessons here in NJ, and plan to make it out West someday. Its never too late to follow your dreams…I am a huge believer of that. With thoughts of Malibu & Hawaii running through my mind, I say kawabunga baby! I’ll see you soon Big Kahuna :)

Today I say…Never say Never! Make it yours, Make it Great! Enjoy the Journey & Grab your wave! :)

Vitamins By Kids 4 Kids

Hi everyone! Since its something I do everyday, and I mean everyday, even while on vacation, I thought it’d be important to share with you all.  Vitamins! Veronica & I take a multi with extra C daily, we like Flintstones :) and I take a DHA Omega liquid too. I just started taking the Omega because my mom says it’ll make me smarter & more focused. She says it helps develop the brain. I think it tastes good and trust my mom :) Veronica doesn’t like the liquid so she takes the gummy form. I DON’T like gummies! YUK! What’s important is that we take our vitamins daily especially us kids who are growing and maybe sometimes aren’t eating all the fruits & vegetables we should. Vitamins help us stay healthy, grow, & get stronger! Especially when we have some sports & games to play! Oh, and yes so we can do well in school too :)  So there you have it. Moms and Dads make sure you are buying vitamins for your kids, and kids make sure you are taking them everyday!

Hi everyone! :) Today I am going to give all the kids out there a quick tip!  Share :) Yes its true.  Sometimes we like to keep our things to ourselves and not share. But if it weren’t for my mom sharing her workout equipment Veronica & I wouldn’t be learning & enjoying all the different types of workouts mom is teaching us! The latest exercise that is helping me in my baseball game is using her 3lb medicine ball. You know the one we bought at Five Below :)  Yes, the medicine ball is helping me with my arm development, core, and focus. We toss it back and forth to each other and sometimes when I am alone I’ll toss it up towards the sky and catch it. We do 3 sets of 20…Mom tells me to keep my legs firm on the ground and just use my arms while keeping my belly tight. The belly is the core. Its fun doing different types of exercises that are great for me! AND thanks to my mom she lets me use her equipment….we share :)

 

Try it! I am sure it’ll help in your game :)  Get Moving, Eat Right, & Have Fun! Lets make OUR future a GREAT ONE!!

Stretch & Spring to It!

Hi everyone! Today I want to talk about stretching and how important it is. Baseball season has started for me, and even though I play year round, I play more this time of year and my legs are feeling it!  A few days ago I woke up with a very tight feeling in the back of my legs, the calves. Mom told me to stretch, but I didn’t and the pain got worse. Luckily she MADE me stretch and the soreness went away.  Now I make a point to stretch every morning before school and every afternoon before & after practice.  Stretching is very important for everyone even if you are not an athlete. And the age doesn’t matter either. Mom stretches ALL the time, which I guess is why she can do Yoga poses better than me :) Dad doesn’t stretch which is why he hurt his leg playing basketball a few weeks ago.  Now he stretches before he plays. So today’s tip is STRETCH!!  It will help avoid injuries and keep you in the game, no matter what game it is. Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, La Crosse, Football, Tennis, Track & Field,  always stretch before & after!   Mom says Life is a game too, so I guess it’ll work for that game also. :)

Workout & Have Fun… By Kids 4 Kids!

Yoga on Bosu w/Veronica

Hi Everyone…today Veronica & I will be showing you some of our favorite ways of exercising. Please join us with your kids so that we can all be fit. Its up to us kids to help get other kids healthy so join us! Veronica loves to do Yoga w/mom and I love to use her Bosu ball & Stability ball. Whatever it is do something. Ride your bike, jump rope, play basketball, baseball, football, tennis,  soccer, everything and anything.  You can even hold competitions with your brothers or sisters on who can do the most jumping jacks!  Once you have done your activity have a great healthy snack. I’ll be honest, I really don’t like vegetables or trying new foods, but since I know how important it is I try a bite and sometimes I like it :) Sometimes I don’t :( but at least I tried. One thing I really like to do is to cook with my mom! We try all sorts of different dishes. Seeing what goes inside it helps me want to try it and its also a lot of fun.  So like mom says…get moving & have fun trying new forms of exercise and new foods too!

V&M tips 2day…..Veronica loves blueberries & strawberries and since its cold season it is important that I eat them too since they are filled with antioxidants. Antioxidants help fight the bad germs and help keep us healthy. So lets call today Berry Monday :)
